As long as I can remember I have always loved to draw. After brief attractions to printmaking, jewelry making, ceramics, and graphic design, I came full circle back to plein d’aire landscape painting and studio portraiture from live models.
In portraiture, I try to capture on canvas the beauty of the inner soul that I see in the individual. Something often missed as we race through life. For me, painting is a way of leaving behind something beautiful that was not there before, and it is a way of getting a tremendous feeling of accomplishment that seldom comes from the day-to-day job.
Drawing and painting have always been a terrific source of enjoyment for me. Besides a form of escapism, painting provides the opportunity for the expression of my visual world. Sometimes it is hard to clear my schedule to find the time to paint but once I begin it becomes an obsession for me. Combining my passion for shape, value, and color with a love of the outdoors has moved me to become a “plein air” painter, one who paints outdoors.
My enthusiasm for drawing and painting is channeled into teaching classes to children and adults in Center Valley, PA, where curriculum focuses on drawing and painting in pastel, watercolor, and oil.
